Nerdful Things 04/07/15

Welcome to this week’s Nerdful Things!  I’m going to break stride for a sec and congratulate the winner of the 1,000 likes competition for the awesome Play Arts Kai Harley Quinn Variant.   So, congratulations goes to Shona aka Ellie Jayden!  It feels good to offer up some awesomeness but especially when the person shows true appreciation – her Twitter reaction says it all.  As disappointed as I was with the small number of entries, I am glad I had people put some effort in as a prize like this should go to someone who makes an effort and not just a lazy like, share and that’s it.  Below is the winning entry:

I really want that Joker doll…

Before I delve into some of the awesomeness available, I also wanted to announce the integration of a new scheme on the store: certain pre-order items will have discounts applied within a certain window of time before they revert to the regular price.  To qualify for the discount, all you have to do is order within that time – the price will show as discounted on the respective product page/in your cart/at checkout.  Simple.  Bear in mind that this is not on ALL pre-orders and the window of time may be a few days to a week or two so if you want to save a little bit of cash then get in there quick!

So, that being said, here is the first (and only item at the time of writing this) item available at a discounted price.  This GITD Vaultboy from the newly announce Fallout series from Funko!  This guy has clearly been hanging out with The Glowing One.  Or he’s been wandering around the Wasteland without the correct gear and has a stupidly high RAD reading.

Next up, we have the American Horror Story: Freakshow POP!s.   I posted a RUSH ORDER towards the end of last week and a lot of the items are (thankfully) still available to order in, including this series.  Elsa Mars & Ma Petite seem especially popular (4 times more than any of the others)!  Also available are: Bette & Dot (Tattler Twins), Pepper & Twisty The Clown.

How awesome are these newly announced Doctor Who POP!s?

4th Doctor with Jelly Beans

11th Doctor with Fez & Mop

12th Doctor with Spoon

And finally, here is the last of my picks – the Star Wars Jawa re-release!

That’s just a taster of some of the goodies added this week.  For more, check the store homepage.

Lego Dimensions

Good morning (or whatever part of the day it is that you’re reading this)!

I had an e-mail towards the end of last week and decided to share some awesome news.  A distributor has reached out to me to offer me the opportunity of jumping on the “toys to life” craze.  And, I must admit, Skylanders has never really taken me.  Disney Infinity was tempting but the different versions etc. seems confusing for the consumer and when I heard of Dimensions, I was keen for me personally as I love Lego and the possibilities that it may offer really captured my imagination (tie that in with the announcement of Lego releasing a game akin to Minecraft and it’s a case of ‘mind = blown’).

Below are details taken from the Lego Dimensions fact sheet that I have been supplied and I will be looking to add the various sets to the store very soon.  In the meantime, check out the deets below!

  • The Starter Pack Will Last. The LEGO® Toy Pad and the videogame found in the initial Starter Pack will offer continued compatibility with future Expansion Packs for years to come.  Like any LEGO building set, LEGO Dimensions is a system of play that offers continued compatibility – everything bought today or expanded with tomorrow will continue to work.

Game Storyline:

There is an ancient planet at the centre of the LEGO® Multiverse inhabited by an evil mastermind, Lord Vortech.  It is said that he who controls the Foundational Elements that this planet is built upon, controls all of the Multiverse.  Lord Vortech has vowed to be that ruler, summoning characters from a variety of LEGO worlds to help him find these building bricks of LEGO® civilization.  Some have agreed.  Others have rebelled.  And only the combined powers of the greatest LEGO® heroes can stop him.

1,000 Likes Competition – The 411

[powr-countdown-timer label=”Enter a Label”]

Hello again folks!

After a lot of thought and consideration, I toyed with a number of ideas for ways in which to win this awesome Play Arts Kai Harley Quinn figure.

I thought of doing a Bonus Ball draw based on an upcoming Lotto draw – pay £1 per number.  Good, randomised way of doing it but it limits the competition to a maximum of 49 folks.  Plus, it’s not really a fitting way of putting this fantastic piece up for grabs!

The typical competition apps that are out there suck, to be fair.  It’s all well and good getting folks to like and share something – I mean, how may times have you hit like just for the sake of it and never gone back to the page or whatever again?

And, thanks to a mini brain-storming session some other ideas milling about in this floundering mind rose to the surface triumphant!

So, it seems only right that this lovable rogue receives your love to decide the ultimate winner.  It’s time to get your creative caps on and show how much you love her!

Entries can include any form of creativity – a drawing, a poem, short story, vlog, song, love letter (don’t creep us out too much)…anything that you feel conveys how badly you want this figure in a non creepy, pure fun kinda way.  Entries have to be unique (no Google images or similar means of cheating) – you have to personalise your work to show that it wasn’t ripped off of someone else so your name needs to be clearly on any written/drawn works as well as the hashtag #Nerdgazzum.  Any video pieces should be pretty obvious that you are who you are.  Any audio sent in needs to have your name mentioned either at the start or the end of your piece.

I know that sounds like a lot of work, but Harley Quinn doesn’t just give herself to anyone, puddin’.

The competition is open as soon as this post has been published and closes at midnight on June 30th so you have an entire month to hone your craft.

Eligible entries will then be assigned an entry number (any ineligible entries will be rejected).  After the cut-off date the entry numbers will be put into to decide the winner!

Any written or drawn entries can be sent in via the Facebook Page, Instagram or Twitter.

Audio/video submissions can be done via Youtube or any other audio/video site and send the link and details of your entry in a message on either the Facebook Page or Twitter.

The competition is open to all locations however, if an entrant outside of the UK wins, they will be liable for postage costs at the rate of International Signed For via Royal Mail.

Good luck, everyone!  I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!!

Delayed Items

[As of 30/09/15]

Seeing as there are a number of items I have on order with my suppliers and, in some cases, some are suffering extreme delays so I figured it’d be a good idea to have this post as a means of giving real-time updates on the status of said items.

Now, I have had a number of e-mails and communications with customers – some polite and understanding.  Others not so.  I have even had the accusation of running a false store front (despite the fantastic feedback on eBay, the Facebook page and the store itself…) so I thought this would also be a good idea in the name of transparency and to build an element of trust for customers who have never bought from me before and these form their first purchase or they may have heard of such issues.

As much as I’d love to be able to dictate to Funko and/or my suppliers what’s what in the world of distribution, I can’t.  I have no control over such matters and can only pass the information on.

I have had some issues with customers demanding refunds and, due to the nature of their purchase(s) this is not possible (as per the terms and conditions that they agree to upon completion of the checkout process)

I understand how frustrating delays can be.  Trust me, I know from both sides of it being a consumer and a retailer.  So, without further ado, here is the latest I have on the items subject to delays:

First up, and the biggest thorn in my side is the SDCC 2014 Unmasked Deathstroke.  There is no ETA on him at the moment but I have been assured he will be coming in.  He’s the biggest pain for me due to the fact a large number of folks are awaiting him…including myself for my own personal collection!

EDIT: Deathstroke orders cannot be fulfilled as stock cannot be acquired.  Please read this post for more details.

SDCC 2015 Grinning Ultron is incoming and should be here this week.

Rapunzel (with Frying Pan) is continuously being chased.

Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz are unavailable – all affected customers have been contacted and refunded.

Next up: Winged Castiel.  I had a batch in a while back and, since then, he seems to have grown even more popular meaning that there’s a few I am waiting for to fulfil a number of orders.  More were expected by the end of April but I am awaiting an update on this as, obviously, we’re past that point now.

Dancing Groot and Gold Smaug have also suffered delays since the last batches were in.  As with Castiel, above, they were expected by the end of April and are pending an update.

I will sticky this post so it’s easy to navigate to and update it as and when I have further info!

Store Update – Week 41

Super late blog post this time – I kept trying to find time to podcast but alas!  So, a much later post than usual.  Being back in my day job, running the site and looking after 3 little rascals is harder than I anticipated.  6 weeks of leave made my life feel so much easier it’s like I’ve just crash landed back into reality!

So, what goodness did I have added to the store last week?  Behold!

[hungryfeed url=”” feed_fields=”” item_fields=”title,description” link_target=”_blank”]

I’m hoping to get a more regular podcast schedule going…and I’ll try to keep it interesting!

Batmobile Full Reveal

So the interwebs has been full of sneaky pics and blurred shots on Instagram of the Batmobile on set.

Despite the lack of quality, they were still tantalising but – my good golly – this image is breathtaking.  Tumbler-esque but a bit more rough around the edges and nastier looking (as in more kick-ass).

Hot fudge holey moley, Batman! Another image of the ‘mobile!

As time goes on, more and more tidbits are coming from set and via official announcements as well as hints here and there from various folks involved or the potential folks to be involved.  DC/Warner seem to have finally found the ability to fully rival, if not surpass Marvel – all that’s to be done is release the movie and see how it fares against Marvel’s roster.

I truly hope they can finally achieve the greatness that they have enjoyed on the animated features side and bring that to the live action features.

Store Update – Week 34

It was a bit of a manic week last week – what with the disappointment of the SDCC Venkman & Slimer being pulled so I can’t fulfill those orders, then awesome news about Deadpool unmasked (the 2 variants) and news from back home meaning I had to head up to Scotland last minute which meant the blog post has been delayed.

Anyhoo, here ya go, last weeks goodies!

DC Comics New 52 Action Figures

It’s taken a little while but most of DC Collectibles’ newest action figure range – The New 52 – has been added to the store.  At present, some items aren’t listed as my supplier hasn’t listed them (i.e. Darkseid) – I’m hoping to have access to the ones that are missing to be able to offer the entire range!

Check out the dedicated store page here and the images below show you the sheer awesomeness of this range.

Constantine (TV Show)

I watched the Constantine pilot a few nights back.

I really enjoyed it but I feel I probably would benefit from reading more of the comics (I’ve read the New 52 stuff such as Justice League Dark).  I got some of the references (such as Dr Fate’s helmet) and loved the dark, gritty look and feel of the show.

Not sure about the casting but it coulda been worse (Keanu Reeves…) I’m excited to see what else is brought to the table and how well this weaves into other storylines and characters.   James Marsters (Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer) is the type of figure I had in mind…

I have a sneaking suspicion that CW can’t be beaten in terms of intertwining characters and references – Arrow and the Flash are immense and go from strength to strength.

I have faith, however, and DC seem to be strengthening their TV presence.  In comparison to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D,  DC are pwning the airwaves.  My main hope is that these shows then give DC the much needed clout in the movie business.  Superman and Batman (as much as I worship the Bat) have had too much attention in the movies and the way it’s going now, DC’s gallery of heroes and rogues are getting the attention they deserve as DC’s ever-strong animated presence is only going to skim the surface of viewers as not everyone will watch animation.

Constantine looks like it will be what I had hoped Supernatural would have been (after season 6 it went way downhill…it should’ve ended then and not continued).

So, fingers crossed but this pilot was very promising.  Roll on episode 2!

Store Update 02/06/14

Hola!  This past week has seen some epic additions to the store.

The most exciting news is the Funko side of things – not many sites seem to do bundles of the Funko Pop! series…so, to break the mould somewhat, Nerdgazzum has bundled some of the best series characters together – by doing this it allows costs to be kept down, meaning the items work out cheaper overall!  For example, most Funko vinyls would sell for around £12 (in sme cases including shipping, most cases shipping is then on top).  The bundles here, with the exception of certain individual pieces (exclusive/larger than usual/more expensive at source) the sets work out that the individual items are between £8-£10 and, if ordering in the UK, there is no shipping on top (unless requesting tracked/recorded delivery).

The most popular bundle at the moment appears to be the Ghostbusters Funko set – a couple of customers that had ordered the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man have now upgraded their orders to get the set instead.

Many more sets will be added.

As well as Funko bundles, I’ll be looking to bundle action figures and various other items together to get you the best deal possible and add some amazing items to your collection!

Officially licensed phone cases and so on have been added – many more to come!

Feast your eyes on the list below.

On top of the huge store update, the Nerdgazzum Community has gone live (complete with message boards).  The boards will be updated with pre-order announcements but you can also utilise this forum to put in requests for items you want/have been trying to acquire and would like me to try and get a price/source for you.

The boards will be updated for many other discussions and the skeletal framework is down, so come on in and join in and help to create a thriving online community!
