Nerdful Things 11/07/15

Let’s start this week’s Nerdful Things with the news of the Mystery Funko POP!  The option to buy a random Funko POP! from my in stock items (unless they sell out in which case I will order more random POP!s in) has been added to the store.  I’m still looking at other mystery box options (other manufacturers as well as bigger boxes packed with goodies).   As a bonus, the mystery box is being offered at a discounted price (cheaper than the cost of a regular POP!) for the first month.

Now, at this point I had intended on adding the other store additions here.  I had left it for today to update but yesterday a bombshell hit my e-mail.  A short and sweet e-mail with details of the SDCC Funko POP! pre-orders so I dropped everything.  After a rush to break the news I managed to get the store updated and also hit up eBay.  It’s taken a while in between my internet completely screwing up (I’ve rebooted my router countless times over the last 24 hours) as well as handling all the e-mails, messages and looking after 3 kids.  Considering my current state of health I haven’t done too bad!

Anyhoo, enough about my woes!  This week’s Nerdful things has now been hijacked by SDCC and I will to a bumper edition next week to cover what I was going to do originally!

You can view/pre-order the SDCC POP!s here.

I’ve submitted my figures to the distributor and hope to fulfill each and every order.  In the event I can’t, full/partial refunds (where applicable) will be issued.  Last year was less of a rush, considering I’d only been in operation for about 3 months.  More warning was given regarding the available items but it came with the drawback that items were staggered from August to November and saw some MAJOR delays and turned into some cancellations.  This year has seen a whirlwind tear through but the plus side is that the items are scheduled to drop much, much sooner.  Most are scheduled for later this month with a couple in August and one in September/October.  Details of estimated dates are on each product page.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the various announcements and news coming from San Diego and if you’re actually there or have been…well. I’m sure you’re feeling victorious after some epic hauls and signings etc!

Delayed Items

[As of 30/09/15]

Seeing as there are a number of items I have on order with my suppliers and, in some cases, some are suffering extreme delays so I figured it’d be a good idea to have this post as a means of giving real-time updates on the status of said items.

Now, I have had a number of e-mails and communications with customers – some polite and understanding.  Others not so.  I have even had the accusation of running a false store front (despite the fantastic feedback on eBay, the Facebook page and the store itself…) so I thought this would also be a good idea in the name of transparency and to build an element of trust for customers who have never bought from me before and these form their first purchase or they may have heard of such issues.

As much as I’d love to be able to dictate to Funko and/or my suppliers what’s what in the world of distribution, I can’t.  I have no control over such matters and can only pass the information on.

I have had some issues with customers demanding refunds and, due to the nature of their purchase(s) this is not possible (as per the terms and conditions that they agree to upon completion of the checkout process)

I understand how frustrating delays can be.  Trust me, I know from both sides of it being a consumer and a retailer.  So, without further ado, here is the latest I have on the items subject to delays:

First up, and the biggest thorn in my side is the SDCC 2014 Unmasked Deathstroke.  There is no ETA on him at the moment but I have been assured he will be coming in.  He’s the biggest pain for me due to the fact a large number of folks are awaiting him…including myself for my own personal collection!

EDIT: Deathstroke orders cannot be fulfilled as stock cannot be acquired.  Please read this post for more details.

SDCC 2015 Grinning Ultron is incoming and should be here this week.

Rapunzel (with Frying Pan) is continuously being chased.

Ghostbusters Vinyl Idolz are unavailable – all affected customers have been contacted and refunded.

Next up: Winged Castiel.  I had a batch in a while back and, since then, he seems to have grown even more popular meaning that there’s a few I am waiting for to fulfil a number of orders.  More were expected by the end of April but I am awaiting an update on this as, obviously, we’re past that point now.

Dancing Groot and Gold Smaug have also suffered delays since the last batches were in.  As with Castiel, above, they were expected by the end of April and are pending an update.

I will sticky this post so it’s easy to navigate to and update it as and when I have further info!

Constantine (TV Show)

I watched the Constantine pilot a few nights back.

I really enjoyed it but I feel I probably would benefit from reading more of the comics (I’ve read the New 52 stuff such as Justice League Dark).  I got some of the references (such as Dr Fate’s helmet) and loved the dark, gritty look and feel of the show.

Not sure about the casting but it coulda been worse (Keanu Reeves…) I’m excited to see what else is brought to the table and how well this weaves into other storylines and characters.   James Marsters (Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer) is the type of figure I had in mind…

I have a sneaking suspicion that CW can’t be beaten in terms of intertwining characters and references – Arrow and the Flash are immense and go from strength to strength.

I have faith, however, and DC seem to be strengthening their TV presence.  In comparison to Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D,  DC are pwning the airwaves.  My main hope is that these shows then give DC the much needed clout in the movie business.  Superman and Batman (as much as I worship the Bat) have had too much attention in the movies and the way it’s going now, DC’s gallery of heroes and rogues are getting the attention they deserve as DC’s ever-strong animated presence is only going to skim the surface of viewers as not everyone will watch animation.

Constantine looks like it will be what I had hoped Supernatural would have been (after season 6 it went way downhill…it should’ve ended then and not continued).

So, fingers crossed but this pilot was very promising.  Roll on episode 2!

Store Update 24/06/14

It’s been another huge week on the store – the total number of products available to order is close to the 400 mark.

It’s a mammoth task individually adding each product then manually linking them on the blog so, from now on, the update posts will just give a summary of products and selected items will be linked.

The store itself has had a number of changes also:

  • New Loyalty Points scheme (registered customers who have placed orders prior have had the points they would have earned if the scheme was available manually added and available to spend now)
  • Adding to your cart is even easier now that the page reload sequence has been removed!
  • New San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) section – a tidy little home for any SDCC Exclusives

So, what are the new goodies then? (For a more extensive list, see the bottom of this post!)

Store Update 17/02/14

The store has had a few tweaks here and there along with some new items (and some not so new items) being listed.

Firstly, we have added a reviews section to the products so buyers can leave feedback regarding their awesome purchases.

The way URLs are handled have been tweaked to allow sharing to Facebook etc. to flow without missing product information and images of the actual items.

A pre-owned section has been added whereby some of my unwanted/unused items will be listed.  The option to allow users to have a means to upload and sell their items is an idea that may take shape down the line.

A ‘What’s New‘ link has been added to the top menu to allow swift access to the sites recently added items.

A ‘COMING SOON‘ link has also been added to allow pre-orders and a little taste of what’s to come.

A link to our Redbubble store has also been added  for our T-Shirt designs etc.

A tweak most probably won’t notice is the ‘Featured Items’ section on the store homepage.  It has been set to randomise the items as opposed to the static display previously.  This way, every time you visit, you’ll have a different set of items to cast your gaze upon rather than becoming complacent to the same old line-up!

So, what new items have we got?

Well…feast your eyes on these:

  1. Alien Reaction Figure – Alien “Big Chap”
  2. Alien Reaction Figure – Ash
  3. Alien Reaction Figure – Dallas
  4. Alien Reaction Figure – Kane
  5. Alien Reaction Figure – Ripley
  1. Big Bang Theory – Howard (Star Trek)
  2. Big Bang Theory – Leonard (Star Trek)
  3. Big Bang Theory – Raj (Star Trek)
  4. Big Bang Theory – Sheldon (Star Trek)

Phew, that was pretty exhausting putting this list together adding all the hyperlinks etc!

So, hopefully you will enjoy the feast laid before you – stock is on order but as some of the descriptions on the product pages state – some are special items meaning that we order them upon request due to the cost/niche market for them.

The prices have been kept as low as possible – cheaper and in some cases a steal compared to other sites/sellers.  The way we see it – cheaper prices = more sales as opposed to jacking up the mark-up to make up the numbers from the select few.

The aim is to do a weekly round up of news and updates to keep things nice and tidy and easy to notice changes in case you missed them.

Hit us up in the comments with any feedback/requests/suggestions.

Taste our awesome.
